Project Highlight: Chipotle – Hendersonville, TN
D and E provided full site design services and shell architecture for this Chipotle in Hendersonville, TN.
The civil work in this location posed unique challenges to convert what was one site into two, while still maintaining vehicle and pedestrian access and circulation throughout. Our civil team had to creatively engineer the patio and drive-thru layouts in order to make the development work. We were glad to have found a way to efficiently re-use what we could while replacing what we needed to.

Our Interiors Team took a trip down the road to one of our projects that recently opened – The Fainting Goat Coffee Co. in Franklin, TN! Incredible coffee, a great second story with a rooftop lounge, remote working booths available, and parking in the back. Needless to say, this location will be a frequent visit for our office!

Congratulations, Blake!
We want to celebrate Blake Emerson for 15 years of service at D and E this past month! Blake has worked on a variety of projects over the years, most notably managing the roll out of over 200+ Buffalo Wild Wings locations since he started at D and E. He is now a Senior Architectural Project Manager, and just had his fifth daughter born! Congratulations, Blake!!
Service Spotlight: As-Built Surveys
Here’s a look into an integral part of our Due Diligence stage: performing as-built surveys of our projects. For existing buildings, this step is key to identifying the existing conditions, dimensions, and potential issues with a space. Our team creates a report and as-built drawing that will be used for the design and to aid the client in understanding the required updates for the project. In addition, our team meets the client and property manager in person to start the coordination process and identify solutions as early as possible. We are thankful for the expertise and diligent preparation of our team, as it paves the way for our design process to be as streamlined and successful as possible.

Architectural Intern/Designer – Design and Engineering is seeking a candidate who is currently working toward a B.A. in Architecture or recently graduated. (Accredited – NAAB)
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of architectural construction drawings, 3D modeling, renderings, and presentation drawings
• Collaborate project requirements with team manager and coordinate with team members
• Develop/Design 3D conceptual designs and models
• Observe and document conditions with team manager during construction and as-built visits
• Research and identifying building materials, lighting fixtures, other products
• Research building code requirements and accessibility requirements
• Organize files and documents for projects and company library of standards
• Coordinate redlines and revisions to drawings
Education Requirements:
• Working toward or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or Computer Aided Drafting
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and attention to detail
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases (Microsoft Office)

We are thrilled to announce that Ben Setlock has rejoined the team! Ben started at D and E after college, working hard to gain experience in restaurant design, manage multiple clients, and become a licensed architect during his 7 years at the firm. After moving to Pittsburgh to start a family, he has gained additional experience working in the commercial retail and residential sectors.
