Walker Westbrook, RA
Architecture
Walker Westbrook joined the company in 2014 after graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has a Bachelor of Architecture, an NCARB Certificate, and is a Registered Architect in the state of Tennessee. Walker has been involved in a variety of project sizes and types, ranging from tenant buildouts, freestanding restaurants, to multi-tenant shell developments. His professional skills include Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, Writing Specifications, Detailing, Building Analysis, and Code Review.
Walker’s dad was a mechanical engineer and took him along on site visits from an early age, while his mom was very artistic and encouraged him to draw and express his creativity. Architecture presented Walker with the opportunity to synthesize the two things he enjoyed growing up. He can see several influences that have shaped his career over the years; one of which has been his general curiosity and willingness to learn as much as he could about buildings, both new and old. This has prepared him for the variety of projects we have encountered across the country. Another influence on his career has been his love for woodworking, which has given him an early start thinking about how to practically detail assemblies. This passion has also influenced Walker’s care for sustainable materials.
What Walker loves the most about his job is walking through a space that has been transformed through the successful execution of our ideas and concepts. He says that the advancement of 3D rendering software in the last decade of his being in the industry has been a massive game-changer. These advancements give clients a sneak-peak into what they’re going to see upon completion and have enhanced the level of feedback we receive when it comes to design reviews. Walker has been incredibly happy to have been a part of this development in D and E’s project delivery over the years, and he is excited to see where the industry takes us next.
Outside of work, Walker serves as Newsletter Editor and sits on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Association of Woodturners. In his free time, he enjoys woodworking/woodturning, disc golf, and fishing.
“Architecture presents a unique opportunity to walk through your imagination in real life.”
