Celebrating the Career and Retirement of Byron Bohrman, Vice President of Design and Engineering, Inc.

As 2025 draws to a close, Design and Engineering, Inc. celebrates the remarkable career of Byron Bohrman, who will be retiring at the end of this year after 34 years of dedicated service. Since joining the firm on January 2, 1991, Byron has been an integral part of DandE and has helped shape the company into what it is today.

A Legacy of Leadership

Throughout his 34-year tenure, Byron advanced through several key leadership roles from Project Manager to Senior Project Manager, then to Secretary/Treasurer and Shareholder in 2001, and most recently Vice President in 2022, while continuing his role as Secretary/Treasurer. Licensed in both Civil and Structural Engineering, Byron’s expertise has extended well beyond his technical responsibilities, influencing nearly every facet of the company’s operations.

Driving Innovation and Growth

Byron’s impact at DandE can be seen not only in the projects he worked on but also in the innovation he helped build behind the scenes. He designed and installed DandE’s first office network at the Jamestown Drive location, enabling company-wide email and ushering in a new era of connectivity.

His leadership in IT development continued to evolve with each office move surrounding the Nashville area – from Hillsboro Road to Jamestown Drive, Maryland Way, Virginia Way, Westgate Drive, and finally Aspen Grove Drive – ensuring DandE stayed ahead of technological and operational changes.

Over the course of his career, Byron played a vital role in delivering projects for some of DandE’s most recognized clients, including Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Logan’s Roadhouse, O’Charley’s, Taco Bell, Golden Corral, Captain D’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Verizon, Tractor Supply, Taziki’s, M.L. His influence can be seen in countless commercial projects beyond Nashville and across the country, each reflecting his attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Beyond the Projects

Byron’s leadership has extended far beyond project delivery. He has been instrumental in providing a high level of detail on projects and is known for his unwavering commitment to doing things right. His presence brought high standards to the firm, making him a trusted leader and a key part of the company’s success.

From memorable company trips to Keystone, Colorado, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to the day-to-day mentorship he provided, Byron’s impact will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for the support and care he brought to the DandE family.

A Lasting Legacy

As Byron begins his well-earned retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude for his decades of service, leadership, and friendship.  In this next chapter, Byron looks forward to spending more time pursuing his passion for scuba diving. A certified diver and instructor since 2016, he has trained approximately 150 new and advanced divers and logged nearly 500 dives. With more time to dedicate to what he enjoys most, Byron is eager to continue exploring new dive sites and sharing his expertise with others.

Congratulations to Byron on a remarkable career, and we wish him the very best as he embarks on this well-deserved next chapter.

During my interview with Jim in late 1990, I mentioned that I was looking for a place to retire from. I’ve spent more than half of my life at DandE.  It would seem that I found what I was looking for.
